My thoughts on why I find choir music to be great

Hello, people!

Choir music is something that I have done since I was very young, and often than not it is
something that takes up a lot of my free time, which would make me want to contemplate quitting.
Me being unable to do this, however, is due to a variety of reasons which makes me write
this blog; why singing and listening to choir music is so wonderful.

• It is beautiful to listen to! Firstly, it is something that is simply beautiful. Its attractiveness andpopularity can be seen when looking at choir music throughout its very long history. I believe it is due to choir music being quite specific in performance. It can produce very powerful and magnificent sounds, and at the same time, also being able to sing very quietly. 

• It is a way for me to make art together with others! From a singer’s perspective, being in a choir is hard work, which, in the end, is easily bearable due to the rewards. For one, it requires a team. A choir with 1 singer would not be a choir, it requires everyone to perform, yet, at the same time, perform as one. The ability to do that, and thus, make art come to life, is wonderful and makes me feel proud.

• It is a big part of our culture! For me and my family, as well as the close friends I have around me, singing is a big hobby, and for some, even a profession. However, I believe that for Latvians as a nation, choir music is something that presents us with a sense of identity. The Song and Dance Festival, which occurs every 5 years, brings together a large amount of singersand dancers together, professional and amateur. People around the world recognize this festival, and our choir music in general, as something that is very unique. That, I think, is something that needs to be up-kept, and through singing I know that I can do that.I believe that these are the most prominent reasons to why choir music is so dear to not only my heart,but to many others as well.
